Friends of the School Update
Tuesday 16th September Meeting Notes
Thank you for those that were able to attend the Friends meeting on the 16th. If you were unable to attend, don’t worry there will plenty of opportunities to get involved with the events and planning over the next academic year.
We are always looking for volunteers to help out at events or to help with the planning, but we understand it can sometimes be hard to find the time, any support from stacking a few chairs when a performance finishes to supplying a cake for a bake sale is greatly appreciated by the school staff. As is the time taken to attend events and all the donations made at them.
Here are some of the key points that were discussed in the meeting.
Joining Friends & Keeping Updated with Activities
- Last academic year you helped us raise £2000 for the school. Thank you!
- A new Friends WhatsApp group was set up for this academic year; to join the group you need to complete an online form. You can access it here, or via the QR Code. The QR code will also be displayed at school.
- In the group we will share upcoming activities and requests for support through either volunteering or donations.
- Next meeting will be held at the start of 2026.
Events Calander
- A list of proposed events can be found below. Further details will be sent out prior to the event.
- Tuck Shop – Daisy has kindly volunteered to keep the tuck shop running, they will be held on the first Friday of each month from 3:15 to 4:15.
- Dragon Bags – Rebecca has volunteered to organise dragon bag collections again this year. They will be the last Wednesday of each term. We are also close to receiving an outdoor collection bin, which will allow donated clothing to be dropped off more frequently.
- Carols in the Village – As this year’s Christmas service will be held in the church; we will swap raising money through selling Teas & Cake to organising a raffle instead. This was very successful in the past with donated prizes including meals out, hair dressing vouchers and spa vouchers.
- Booka Visit – Rebecca has kindly offered to look into organising another Booka visit.
- Tabletop Sale – Cat has kindly offered to look into running a tabletop sale in the village hall. Raising money for the school buy selling table spaces to anyone looking to do a bit of a clear out after Christmas.
- School Holidays – Lucie and Daisy will be looking into activities we could run in the village in the school holidays. If anyone has any ideas or would like to help organise a event, please reach out to them.
- Hedgehogs – After the success of the visit from the Hedgehog rescue at the start of the year, it was decided to look at releasing more rescued Hedgehogs into the school grounds, and to also raise money for a wildlife camera for pupils to view their nocturnal activities.
This calendar is a list of suggested events and may change, please also feel free to propose events that you would like to run.
