Easter Trail – Our older learners spent the morning at our local church, St.Garmon’s, working through a fascinating Easter Trail organised for us by Youth Pastor Mark and Reverend Jo. The trail helped us to engage with the Easter story and reflect on what it means to us.
Birdboxes – We spent a great day learning about how to look after local birds and building birdboxes with local bird watchers. During the making process we got to use hammers, nails, drills and sandpaper! We were all proud of how careful and sensible we were. Our visitors even commented on how well we behaved and listened. Great job everyone!
Eisteddfod – We enjoyed a wonderful afternoon celebrating Wales and being Welsh at our school Eisteddfod. The children took part in a range of competitions including singing, reciting, art, craft and cookery. It was great to welcome so many community members to celebrate with us.
Lead Creative Schools Project – Our aim for the project is to design and make a digital game that tells a story based on our term’s topic Time Machine. We are following the design process; firstly collecting and collating ideas, second prototyping, then on to the design and finally the making. Here are some pictures of our prototyping phase – we created games from our drawings and used our problem solving skills to fix any errors and bugs.
Lead Creative Schools Project – As part of Lead Creative Schools project we went to university for the day to visit our lead practitioner, Richard Hebblewhite, as he prepares for the Global Game Jam organised by him and his team at Wrexham Glyndwr University. It was a great day and a wonderful opportunity for our children to experience what further education has to offer. We designed games, programmed robots, toured the university and used the green screen in the BBC studios!
Happy New Year – So many wonderful memories of 2023, we can’t wait to see what 2024 will bring.
Christmas Carols – In the words of Buddy the Elf ‘The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear’, so we did! Here we are carol singing outside the Community Shop in Llanfechain.
Cinderella Rockerfella – Our recent production performed in the Village Hall.
