Our Nurture Afternoons are a time when we come together as a school and help each other to develop and grow as rounded individuals in a supportive family environment. These sessions are varied and engaging, and give children the chance to support each other in their learning and development
Areas we focus on in our Nurture Sessions;
- Identity – We think about our identity and the identity of others including what impacts it.
- Rights and Responsibilities – We learn about the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, and our part in being responsible citizens.
- Culture – We think and learn about our Welsh culture and cultures around the world.
- Diversity – We discuss and learn about diversity, it’s importance and how incredible it is.
- Well-being – Thinking about different ways to look after our general well-being especially our mental health. We consider the value of talking, building ourselves and others up, reflecting and calming strategies.
- Physical Health – Looking after our physical and the many different ways we can do this including nutrition, exercise and getting outside.
- Values – Reflecting on our school values and other important values that can guide our actions, thoughts and behaviours.
- Impact – We think about the impact we can have on others and the world around us, we work to ensure our impact is a positive one and use our nurture afternoons to contribute to our community and wider world.
- Emotions – Thinking about our emotions, how they change and what impact them. We share our experiences and what helps us, building strategies for those times when we feel overwhelmed.
- Sustainability -Learning about sustainability and the role we can play in ensuring a happy, healthy future for our world.
