Working With Village Groups

We are so lucky to be part of a warm, caring and welcoming community. As a school we work hard to ensure we contribute to the community of Llanfechain in as many ways as possible.

We support and help at community events such as the Village Show and Christmas Fayre.

We hold regular Cuppa, Cake and Company afternoons where members of the community are welcomed into school for a cuppa, some cake and some company! We arrange activities such as craft and board games for everyone to enjoy, as well as having good chat over a cuppa.

We work with local clubs and often share time together. It’s brilliant working with members of our local community and we learn so much from each other.

Gardening Club – The local gardening club helps us regularly with our school garden. We grow fruits, vegetables and all sorts of plants with them.

Knit and Natter – The Knit and Natter group come in and lead craft activities with us. We’ve made bunting for shows and items to sell at community events.

We work closely with our Community Council to make Llanfechain an even better place to be and ensure it’s happy, healthy and prosperous future. Recently, we have worked with them to improve the playground in the village and to refine, implement and monitor their Biodiversity Report.

Where possible, we invite community members to school events such as productions, Eisteddfods, garden parties and fundraisers.

Community Garden

Over the past year we have been working alongside the local gardening club to set up a community garden in our grounds. It’s such a valuable and enriching experience for our learners.

Here are some photos of us planting potatoes which will be entered into the potato growing contest in the Llanfechain Village Show in August! We can’t wait to watch them grow.
